The One Where I Realized Lorelei Was Going to Make Me Go Broke

I am still working on getting used to the idea or referring to Lorelei as she rather than it, Baby Turner or Appleseed.  I love knowing that I have a precious little girl that is so rowdy inside me.  She is moving more and getting stronger each day! Her daddy has even felt her kick!! Aww yay! He is so proud! She already has him wrapped around her cute little fingers we saw on the ultrasound!

I know I promised more ultrasound pictures but I need my tech savvy husband to get on top of scanning the pictures.  I am not very smart electronically...  However, he is always working so hard to be a great attorney and provider! I love him so much! His work ethic is awesome and he is so good at what he does! Not to mention, he loves it! Loving what you do makes work interesting and easier to wake up for each morning!

Lorelei Update:

I am now 20 weeks and 2 days pregnant! I have come further than I have left to go! Crazy! Passing the half-way point is so great!  I am doing my best to soak up every minute of the pregnancy (at least when I am not sick)! It is starting to move so fast!  I have my first shower in 3 weeks--wow!

Lorelei is supposed to be about 6 1/2 inches long and weight about 10 1/2 ounces.  Since she is measuring big, she weighs over 13 ounces and I am not sure how long she is, but I am sure she is longer than a banana or small cantalope!  I am so happy and thankful God has taken such great care of her during her growth and development!

She is swallowing more and has started to produce meconium.  (TMI!)  I on the other hand should have gained around 10 to 13 pounds.  I have gained around 9! So I am on track! My doctor wants me to gain around 35.  I still find it hard to imagine gaining that much weight, but I eat whenever I am hungry and focus on healthy foods.  Plus, she is a big girl!

I have finally decided on her bedding! I mean we have finally decided on her bedding.  It is actually sort of hard to find bedding to go with a black crib.  Most websites don't even give you the option of looking at bedding to match a black crib.  I guess I am just ahead (or behind) the times!

Here it is:

Don't flip out too much! I know it is hard to take something this cute!!!

Also, etsy.com has some of the cutest newborn hats.  I have posted some below!  I love them!!!  I will def. be getting many of them in different sizes!

The One Where Appleseed Transformed into Lorelei

Appleseed Turner is a ....GIRL!!!  The voting ended 15-12 in favor of a girl! So big applause to all of you!

Everyone kept asking Jonathan and I whether we wanted a boy or a girl.  We had talked about the pros to having each.  However, we unanimously agreed that we wanted a healthy baby! Well, boy did we ever get one! Lorelei is measuring a full week ahead! Haha! Her head and body is so cute and BIG! The last time we saw here she was only 10 1/2 week! She was so HUGE to us yesterday!

First, let me start with the events of yesterday, 6/17/2011.  This will always be the day that we found out what Baby Turner #1 would be.

I didn't sleep that well the night before.  I don't really think it was because I was thinking about the "big" ultrasound but rather the frequent bathroom breaks and heartburn.  This child loves Mommy so much (sarcasm haha)!

When I woke up Friday morning, I was feeling the morning sickness as usual.  So I took me medicine.

Side note:  I had to fight for the dissolving pills rather than the regular ones to my Dr. and pharmicist on Thursday.  I almost started crying at work because I only had two dissolving pills left and knew that I would not make it through the weekend without more pills.  Jonathan stopped by CVS on his way to work to grab my pills and the pharmicist informed him that my pills had been denied.  Oh no you didn't!  I proceeded to call the Dr.  She said that this happens sometimes when insurance doesn't cover them.  First, I have gotten these pills for the last 3 months with insurance covering them and rely on them to have somewhat "normal" days. They are around $40 when insurance covers them and $80 when it does not.  Keep in mind that even the dissolving pills do not work in time; therefore, I knew that if I had to wait on a pill to get into my bloodstream through my stomach then I would have some long days ahead of me.  I informed her to tell the pharmicist to fill the dissolving pills whether or not insurance covered them.  I would pay the difference.  Jonathan then went to pick them up and lo and behold, insurance covered them.  Do NOT mess with a sick pregnant woman.  Especially one who is and attorney and works for an insurance company.  Geez....

Off my vent, back to Friday.  After I took my medicine, I showered and got ready.  I was ready early so I tried to eat some more to make sure the baby wanted to cooperate.  I also was trying to get hydrated because I am so thirsty each and every morning.

19 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  Right before we left to find out whether Appleseed was a boy or a girl!

Here is my hamdsome husband and my very tired appearance!

Now we were off to North Florida Women's Center!  On my way there, I forgot that I had to go to a different room and I had left that information at home.  Yay for Dr. Chamberlain on speed dial! Room 502? Gotcha!

We checked in and waited on the ultrasound tech to come get us! Next thing I knew, I was in a room waiting to get this thing started.

She informed us that she was going to start with some measurements and then tell us the sex.  The next thing I know, she is nonchalantly informing us that it is a girl! Jonathan and I make eye contact and then he shouts: "are you sure?!"  Keep in mind that we had heard stories of people being told that they were having a girl and then a boy showed up at delivery.  However, Lorelei very politely sat on the screen and the tech proved to Jonathan why she was a girl! Umm...nothing was there hahaha!

Isn't she so cute and precious?! Here is her profile shot!
Side note:  I had to make a potty break because her big ole head was trapped between my uterus and bladder and she couldn't get it out! Bahahahahahahahahaha!!

After we received our DVD and pictures, we proceeded to my doctor to have her interpret the measurements.  My blood pressure was 124/82 (a little high but I had no time to compose myself after the ultrasound).

Lorelei has a heartrate of 155 and we joked with Dr. Chamberlain that she had a big head.  Dr. Chamberlain just read the measurements and said well she is measuring almost a full week ahead now.  Jonathan and I both laughed.  So, her new EDD is now November 1,2011 rather than November 6, 2011 due solely to her size!

More ultrasound pictures to come in the next post! Thanks for visiting! We are so excited to have little Lorelei!

The One Where I Broke Down Crying

It was not a great weekend. :-(

I had been feeling strong morning sickness all weekend long.  I didn't make it to hang out with friends on Saturday.  I didn't make it to church on Sunday.  I didn't make it to work on Monday.  I didn't sleep and was sick all Sunday night.  Poor Jonathan and Selah trying to take care of me. What is it you say?  It is a luxury of pregnancy?  It means the baby is healthy?  It goes away in the second trimester?  It should get better?

Let me just say, I love this child.  It happens to be very stubborn like me.  It keeps mommy on her toes with sickness.  I am now in my 19th week and have been sick since week 7.  I have increased the dosage of my medicine lately to be able to function.  The heartburn has also kicked in full force!  However, it will all be worth it in the end.  Also, if Appleseed cooperates, Jonathan and I will find out what we are having on Friday! We cannot wait!

Side note:

A good number of people have encouraged me not to find out what we are having.  I find moms and dads that take this approach have much more patience than me and are not type A personality.  I need to find out.  However, if it is meant to be a surprise, then Appleseed will not cooperate on Friday.  If this happens, I'm leaning towards a stubborn girl, just like her mom. ;-)

Side note 2:

The changing table came today! Yay! Appleseed's room is coming along slowly but surely!  As long as everything is in place by October, I will be fine.  I think.  I sitll refuse to read the labor and delivery chapters of all of my books. :-/

Appleseed developments this week:

Appleseed's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision and touch.  Also, some research says Applseed can hear our voice now.  Aww!  He/she weights about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches.  This is about the size of a mango or an heirloom tomato (depending on the app).  He/she continues to make urine and the hair on his or her scalp is sprouting! Yay! I hope Appleseed has lots of hair, but if he/she has none (like me), I will still love them tons! :-)

Appleseed's heartbeat can be heard with a fetascope this week.  (I have no idea what this is. Someone please fill me in.)  He/she has less transparent skin now.  He/she can grasp things as well!

There is also a protective coating called the vernix caseosa on his/her skin to prevent the skin from picking in the amniotic fluid.  (Gross!) See why I don't read about labor and delivery!  It is this kind of thing that scares me!

Side note:

I am reading a book Jonathan's cousin (Amy) sent me written by Jenny McCarthy about her pregnancy.  She talks about getting in a hot tub and then worrying her baby was hard-boiled like an egg! Haha! I have not thought this but it gave me comfort that other moms jump to extremes about their baby's growth, development, and well-being as well!

Enough about rambling from me about being sick and it taking FOREVER for friday to get here!

Next post will reveal Baby Turner's gender! Tune in this weekend! :-)

P.S. I want to add that my weeks change every Sunday so it makes keeping up with the weeks easier.  I like this.

The One Where Jonathan Assembled the Crib

Today we put the crib together.  Lindsey took pictures and Selah sat around and watched.
Before we started, Lindsey did a belly pose for the camera:

Lindsey will typically wear her pajamas ("jammies") for an entire Saturday
and lay in the bed or on the couch.

On this episode of Cribs...

[First let me talk a little about CymaxStores.com, where we ordered the crib and changing table.  It was a packaged set, but we only received the crib.  After contacting Cymax, I was told the changing table had been discontinued and was actually not in stock.  The customer service rep told me he'd contact the manufacturer to have a changing table sent directly to us.  But immediately after I hung up (as in 5 seconds), I received an email explaining the changing table could be either refunded or replaced with the same item in a different color.  In order to document what the rep had just told me, I replied to the email using some of the standard, intimidating "nastygram" language.  Nothing happended for a week so I called them back and we settled on a refund.  While this was basic customer service, I will never choose another website over Amazon again.]

...So then we opened it up:

The crib can be transformed to a toddler bed and a piano (I'm playing a riff!)

Selah was happy to help by sitting and watching.

And we put it together!

Ta Da!

The One with the Poll

It is that time!! So exciting! We find out next friday, June 17!

Please go to our blog and cast your vote for whether Appleseed will be a boy or a girl!

Thanks!

The One with Appleseed Daddy

I was downloading some pictures the other day to this blog and found some old pictures before we knew we were pregnant with Appleseed!

This picture is from our anniversary dinner on January 6.  Please welcome Appleseed daddy to the blog.  This will be his debut. We have been married for 4 years!  I love this man!

This is Jonathan (Appleseed Daddy) and I on his birthday (Valentine's Day) at Disney World.  We were pregnant and not aware!
Isn't he cute?!

Such a wonderful, loving, Christian man! I am blessed!

Let me just go on a tangent about how awesome Appleseed daddy has been.  He makes me lunch and breakfast because looking at food early in the morning makes me sick.  He has started to help cook and clean the house because I cannot move sometimes on the weekends or at night due to sickness.  He has been to EVERY doctors appointment! He has been so loving and caring and prayerful for me, Appleseed, this pregnany, and our family.  I could not think or imagine a better man to share this journey.  I love him more than any of you will ever understand.  He is my world and I have even broken down crying because I have been so sick that I feel like his wife has disappeared.  He will just hug me and pray for me and continue loving me.  Everyone should be lucky enough to find a man this spectacular.  More to come on how wonderful he is in this blog.  If you know him, you love him.  If not, you'll learn to love him through this blog!!!
This is before the Warrior Dash we competed in during January! Jonathan won his age group (of course).  I finished (thankfully)! Jonathan competes in triathalons so I am sure there will be some blogs discussing this soon!

SEE YOU GUYS BACK HERE SOON!!

THANKS FOR VISITING!
